“Orang-Orang Kota” (City People) reflects on the fragile balance between urban life and nature — between the pulse of the city and the stillness of the mountain. Created for the 2024 exhibition and album launch of Shopping List at Galeri Lorong, Yogyakarta, this work contemplates the mountain as a spiritual and ecological axis that stabilizes the imbalance between human ambition and the natural world.

Through symbolic imagery and sound, the artwork reveals how the mountain becomes a living metaphor — a silent observer of the city’s excess, a sacred reminder of what has been forgotten. It questions how modern life, driven by speed and consumption, distances itself from the very source of equilibrium that sustains it.

“Orang-Orang Kota” invites viewers to confront this disconnection and to rediscover the mountain not as a backdrop, but as a vital presence — a being that breathes, listens, and reminds us of harmony. It is both a lament and a call to return, urging a reconnection between the ecological and the social, the spiritual and the material.

Through this work, W.K.Y.P. continues his exploration of ritual, sound, and human emotion — transforming the everyday tension between city and nature into a space of reflection and poetic resistance.
